BSN Round 20: Gigantes defeat Cangrejeros in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An interesting game for Gigantes (10-6) which hosted in Carolina one of their biggest challengers Cangrejeros (8-9). Second ranked Gigantes had an easy win 101-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. They outrebounded Cangrejeros 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Cangrejeros' players. American Victor Rudd (206-1991, college: S.Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Ismael Cruz (190-2001, college: Indian Hills) contributed with 22 points for the winners. The former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds for Cangrejeros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-6 record having just one point less than leader Quebradillas, which they share with San German and Arecibo. Cangrejeros at the other side keep the third place with nine games lost. Gigantes is looking forward to face Cariduros (#4) in Fajardo in the next round. Cangrejeros will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Mayaguez was also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Leones (7-10) played at the court of fifth ranked Indios (7-9). Indios managed to secure a 4-point victory 95-91. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Chaundee Brown Jr (196-1998, college: Michigan) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Jordan Cintron who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Lance Stephenson (196-1990, college: Cincinnati) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Indios moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guaynabo. Leones at the other side dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Indios will play against league's leader Piratas in Quebradillas in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leones will play on the road against Mets (#5) in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Manati was also quite interesting. Third ranked Capitanes (10-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Osos (4-13). Capitanes managed to secure a 9-point victory 101-92 on Sunday. The winners were led by Walter Hodge who scored that evening 30 points and 4 assists. Even 29 points and 5 assists by Sheldon Mac did not help to save the game for Osos. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with San German and Carolina. Osos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Osos will play against Atleticos (#3) and hope to secure a win.




Carolina - Santurce 101-81
